We aspire to help startups, established businesses, schools, universities and individuals achieve their business goals, by providing development and consulting services for games and interactive applications. This in turn solves their business needs and provides value to their customers, clients, staff or students.
We aim to help our customers determine early-on if their idea is valuable to the market, by using a fail-fast iterative approach, using rapid prototyping to create proof-of-concepts (POC), prototypes and minimum-viable-products (MVP).
Our goal is not just to successfully complete a single project, but also to add long term value to our customers
At XGameDev we believe in solving creative problems, by using the latest technologies, patterns and processes to create engaging and inspiring interactive solutions.
We aim to promote healthy gaming and educate you or your children to live a healthier, more active life while learning something or being entertained. We are strong believers in a balanced life. We believe that there should be outside time and screen time and when your little ones are on the devices, that it is assisting them in all fields of their development.
As a game developer and publisher we aim to create great games which has a positive change in the lives of the players.
Our focus is to create games for free, to keep the passion in game development, not making money or employing Pay-to-win strategies.
We want to change the gaming industry by delivering quality games, which educates and entertains without using psychological tricks to force the player to spend money to speed up a timer or employ pay-to-win mechanics or skinner box modes to cause the players to become addicted to the games, ethically, we believe this is wrong, and not the way games was intended to be.
It is our Vision that the future of the games industry will look like this:
No advertising in our future games
No objectification of women or men
No psychological “hooks” to force the player into bad habits or bad spending habits, which to use, is a form of gambling.
Games should inspire the future generations to be creative, solve problems, communicate and work together to make a positive change in the world.
Games could be used to teach any subject, if used correctly.
We follow a “fail fast, fail often” approach to all our projects and aim to help the client achieve their business goals not just projects goals. We believe in a build-measure-learn workflow to create a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) in order to get to market fast and validate product market fit, we do this by using fail fast combined with an agile iterative process. We combine Agile, Lean and DevOps to deliver smaller prototypes on a regular basis. We use lean in all aspects, from costs to documents to minimise waste as much as possible.
We're a passionate duo dedicated to games and education. While education should be serious business, we feel it doesn't have to be boring and mundane. Studies have shown that young minds are more likely to learn if they are encouraged to have fun, smile, and feel empowered along the way with colourful interactive learning.
We started with a passion for games, animations, interactive content, education and graphics.
XGameDev was founded by Jacques Leemans in 2010 in Pretoria, South Africa. Jacques started with doing small Freelance projects for clients in UK, USA, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and Denmark, to name just a few.
Through freelancing XGameDev managed to acquire a reliable name in the freelancing community for outstanding work and services provided.
In 2015, Melanie Leemans joined the team as game design and developer. XGameDev secured a few long term clients and built lasting business relationships.
In late 2015 the company relocated to Torquay, Victoria, Australia, where we have been stationed till today.
Currently we have numerous clients, from established publishers creating educational games and interactive books, drone companies creating high-quality drone footage for Hollywood movies and TV shows, to game studios creating casual games.
